“If we want to make peace,

we must begin with the children.”

Mother Teresa

Our children are our future!

In our fast-paced world with lots of distractions, children often become overwhelmed, overstimulated and anxious. Staying focused and achieving their goals at school and enjoying their free-time becomes a true challenge for many children.

Whether quarrels with friends, difficulties paying attention or troubles at home, children nowadays are dealing with a variety of obstacles. In my 13 years of teaching experience at a public school I have witnessed the challenges that children are facing these days.

All the more, it is important for children to slow down, learn how to focus and believe in themselves.

The importance of mental health for our lives is gaining more and more awareness.

While many people try hard to take the steps to increase wellbeing, it is not easy to escape the loop of negative thoughts. According to a study of The National Science Foundation in 2005, the average human has between 12,000 and 60,000 thoughts a day. 80 percent of these thoughts are negative. Plus, 95 percent of the thoughts are repetitive. The results of a study of Cornell University extend this knowledge and show that 97 percent of our worries are baseless and the result of a negative perception. The negative perception of the world can lead to a feeling of powerlessness, create mental health issues and encourage unkind communication. Slowing down and remembering to see the world through the eyes of Love, awe and wonder can shift our focus to a more optimistic view of life. Through breathing methods and mini-mindfulness exercises we can calm our nervous system throughout the day to navigate the ups and downs of life easier.

To playfully explore emotions and learn strategies to calm the mind and body can be beneficial for the children’s development as well as their learning journey at school.

Only when our nervous system is regulated are we open for learning!

Let us support children with tools to soothe anxiety, fear and worry.

Let’s help them to become happy, empowered, kind and compassionate adults!

The Heartfelt Mindfulness Training for children combines the Creative Mindfulness for Kids method* (by Louise Shanagher) which includes crafting, meditation and mindfulness, with drama and improv theatre games, movement, creative writing exercises and much more. This colourful tapestry intertwines mind, body and soul to offer a holistic learning approach with which the children get the chance to playfully reflect on their wins, challenges and other topics that are on their minds.

Why Mindfulness?

Mindfulness refers to the act of being fully present and engaged in the current moment,

without any distractions or judgments.

It involves being aware of your thoughts, emotions, and surroundings,

and accepting them without attempts to alter or regulate them.

Research has demonstrated that mindfulness can offer a range of advantages for children, such as better concentration, decreased levels of stress and anxiety, and improved emotional control.

Additionally, mindfulness has been found to enhance cognitive abilities and social skills.

By teaching children to be present in the moment and to pay attention to their thoughts and feelings, mindfulness can help them navigate the challenges of growing up with greater ease and resilience. The Heartfelt Mindfulness Training also helps students to be calm during situations when they would have previously become very hurt, confused or overwhelmed.
